Introducing Interior Design Monopoly 2013
Introducing Interior Design Monopoly 2013 - Monopoly
Very early versions can be traced back to 1903 and the previously-named “The Landlord’s Game“, however it was James Darrow who adapted it, and created Monopoly in 1933.
The most popular commercial board game in the world, Monopoly as we know it is 80 years old in 2013.
Very early versions can be traced back to 1903 and the previously-named “The Landlord’s Game“, however it was James Darrow who adapted it, and created Monopoly in 1933.
We decided this year that we’d create a suitable tribute to Darrow on this 80th anniversary of his adaptation. We’ve teamed with some of the most popular interior design bloggers in the UK to offer up a unique celebration – with our own version of “Interior Design Monopoly 2013”.
How does it work
We’ve resisted the temptation to create a fully-fledged game of Monopoly, however we have made things interesting.
We randomly assigned individual Monopoly streets to interior design bloggers, and are challenging them to create a style board using the budget (value of the street in Monopoly) and the colour (Monopoly street colour).
As you will see from the example blog post we created, we started with Old Kent Road – therefore had a budget of £60 and a brown colour scheme.
Once bloggers have their guidelines, they are encouraged to express their creativity on any room of a home, to show what is possible using a colour theme and a set budget.
Interior Design Monopoly
You can head over to our Monopoly board at the beginning of August once bloggers have published their blog posts. You will then be able to roll the dice and see a wonderful selection of interior design inspiration on a budget.
